Established in the small village of Mid Calder in 1747, this pub is one of the busiest meeting places in the area. Black Bull Inn is at the heart of the community, and enjoys a prime location, sitting snugly in the shadow of its new town neighbour, Livingston, close to nearby rail links.

Regular public transport is available in and out of Edinburgh as well as locally around the Calders and Livingston. Lothian Bus operate the X27 & X28 services, with First Bus also running the 23 service, all of which go between Edinburgh and Bathgate stopping in Mid Calder.

Uphall Station is the nearest railway station with access to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
